MDM - "Mask - Theatre"
Location: Moscow
Designer: Benjamin Schneider, Sofya Taleykina, DI Gerhart Brandt
Status: completed
The MDM building in central Moscow houses an ensemble of diverse public cultural and gastronomic establishments alongside two contemporary theatre venues.
The Mask Theatre was realized within a 20-month construction period and accommodates 620 seats. The theatre's architectural conception integrates into the mixed-use cultural complex while establishing its own spatial identity through carefully orchestrated acoustic design and sightline optimization.
The auditorium configuration follows contemporary performance space typologies, balancing intimate audience experience with technical infrastructure requirements. The interior spatial composition emphasizes the theatrical program through material selection and lighting concepts that support the venue's artistic mission.
The project represents a synthesis of functional performance architecture and cultural placemaking within Moscow's urban fabric.
